Everyone worries about cancer. It’s a disease that kills thousands every day and millions every year. There isn’t a single person who hasn’t been affected by or know someone who has been affected by this dreaded and horrible disease. For that reason these days there is so much awareness needed to prevent these diseases. Since there is no cure for cancer the best defense is to get to it early and do whatever can be done to get it before it get’s hold of the patient.
The issue though is that there isn’t always a lot to go on to know if someone has cancer. There are many stories of cancer coming into someone’s life where there were no present warning signs. This makes the disease even more difficult to deal with when there is the chance it can take hold before it let’s the body know it is there.
The good news is that it isn’t always the case. There are plenty of times where cancer reveals itself to a patient and does so in a fairly obvious way. There are just some things a patient can do to make sure they catch it early. Here are some of the things.
There is nothing that beats keeping up the the primary care physician on a regular basis. Going in for annual physicals and blood tests should allow them to see exactly what they need to see. A lot of times cancer can be detected through a lower white blood cell count. Making sure that patients are on top of this will go a long way in preventing cancer or getting to early diagnosis.
Another way to make sure that cancer is being detected as early as possible is through regular breast and testicular tests. These tests can be performed at home and can provide life saving information to the patient who detects it. These should be performed monthly and only take a couple of minutes.
