Managing Your Ongoing Treatment

When involved in treatment for cancer there are lots of things to be paying attention to. Your treatment is front and center as the number 1 thing you must look to in order to know that things are going well. With cancer the sad truth is that there are very few chances to do treatment over again. Once a treatment is started it can be stopped but it must be stopped early in order to effectively switch to another treatment.

If you are beginning treatment then it is up to you to determine how your treatment is going. Certainly not from a medical aspect as you don’t have the knowledge or training in order to make that call correctly but on the other hand you should be responsible enough to make the determination as to how you are personally feeling from the treatment.

Your personal strength(and not in a spiritual aspect) is important to the treatment. If your body cannot handle it then you will do yourself more harm than good to continue on with the treatment. You are injecting poison into your body with each and every dose of radiation and chemotherapy. Your body is only strong enough to handle a set amount. If you are given too much it could end your life well before the cancer does. So be smart enough to tell the doctor how you are feeling.

The first sign to look for is a loss in appetite. This is a sign that you are not handling things well. Your body, like every other day of your life, needs to have fuel to be able to function and to battle different diseases like cancer. Depriving your body of the food it needs could land you in a compromising position. It’s for your health to keep your doctor up to speed.
