Dispelling The Myths About Early Prevention

So you have heard all there is to hear about cancer and what you can do to prevent it. There have been advocates of early detection that have come in and spoke at your work. You heard it when you were in school. Everyone seems to be telling you that if you are trying to make sure that cancer doesn’t get the better of you then you need to do whatever you can to catch it early. You are hearing all of these things but you still aren’t going to get these screenings. The question is why wouldn’t you do something that can certainly help you and keep you healthy? There is no really good answer to that but there might be some explanation.

Maybe you are scared. It’s a scary thing for many to go in for routine tests. You hear stories from friends, relatives, and on the television about how perfectly healthy people go in for a routine exam and come out being told they have six months to live. That doesn’t help you to want to get in to the doctors. Just know that the reason you see those stories on the news is that they are not the norm. No one talks about how someone went into the doctor and came out and everything was fine. That happens all the time. That’s why it’s not news.

Perhaps you don’t think early detection once a year works. Well it does. Cancer doesn’t just grow and spread over night. It takes time for it to really take hold of the body over a long period of time. If you can get it treated early then you will be much better off. Even if the cancer cells have formed you may still be a long way away from having to face dire consequences with your disease. Get into a doctors office early and save yourself from needed some late heroics.
