WIN ABC
has played a key role in helping breast cancer
patients find the information they need to help
them on the road to recovery. The following are

support from WIN ABC.

Dear Ms.
Mullen,
You
don't know me but I am one of the benefactors of
your organization. I would like to thank you and
especially Renee Gaines for your support during
the past ten months, since I was diagnosed with
breast cancer.
The
American Cancer Society sent a list of agencies to
call for information and WIN-ABC was one of them.
The first time I talked for awhile with Renee
Gaines it had a calming influence and made me feel
like I was at last talking to someone who
understood the panic I felt at not knowing what
steps to take to get the right care. The next day
I received in the mail a big package with
pamphlets and books to read. I devoured the
information and it made me feel less confused. I
felt like I was doing something that would help me
find right answers for me.
It
was a long road that I traveled and Renee was
there every step of the way with telephone
support. She kindly gave me a call at each
crossroad of treatment; surgery, chemotherapy and
radiation. Each packet I received was geared for
me and what treatment I was experiencing at the
time.
...I
appreciate and am so thankful for your help.
Your
organization was a big part of my positive
attitude and recovery.

Dear Betsy,
It is my pleasure and privilege to write a letter
of endorsement about WIN Against Breast Cancer's
wonderful services and programs.
I remember quite vividly my first telephone
call... shortly after my double mastectomy
surgeries in December of last year. I was feeling
particularly at a loss regarding processing the
information that was given to me by my breast
surgeon and plastic surgeon. I had opted for
immediate reconstructive surgery and felt
confident I had made the right decision. What
concerned me was the unknown of chemotherapy.
Shelly Blechman spoke to me at great length. Not
only giving me encouragement to to continue with
my research, but what seemed to be at her
fingertips, referrals to other sources. It was
quite wonderful to listen to her calm, steady
tones and her encouragement.
I came through my chemotherapy quite well and am
now recovering my stamina and my hair. But as soon
as chemo ended and dI was told I would go on
tamoxifen, I called WIN ABC for advice. I was
immediately given a hotline number and dispatched
materials on the drug.
For me, breast cancer has been a journey of
spirit, mind and body. It has been one of
enlightenment and courage. It has been a journey
that has put me in touch with some of the
strongest, most capable women I have every met in
my life. And I will put WIN ABC at the top of that
list any day.
Bless you, WIN ABC for you help and support.
