Your case is rather complex and I would feel more comfortable responding to you after conferring with several healthcare professionals, and even then it is not a given, especially since I do not know all the particulars of your situation
In the meantime, I would be glad to send you some information that will help you in your recovery process. If you would like me to do so, then please complete the personal profile form on this page and/or email me your address.
I think that going through the appeal process with your doctor as an advocate is a good move. What type of biopsy is the Dr. thinking of performing and why would he/she feel it would not be accurate? If this appeal process is unsuccessful, you might want to consider contacting your local legislators to help champion your cause with your HMO. Do you have any consumer advocacy groups, or legal aid assistance? Have you considered contacting the media? Some news channels have consumer advocates that will also come to your defense. Have you also written appeals to the top executives at your insurance company?
I know this requires a tremendous amount of energy and work that really should be directed toward your healing and recovery, but it can be very effective and I would be glad to help in whatever way I can. I will look forward to hearing back from you and will contact you when I have some additional information on your particular case. My thoughts are with you and I am sorry that you are faced with so many additional difficulties.
