Thank you for your quick response - regarding your questions - in Feb. I had a steriotatic bx. which revealed LCIS - my surgeon then performed a lumpectomy in March on the area in which the tumor was re-excised and the margins were not clear and I was dx. with Invasive Lobular Carcinoma - it was"luck" that the margins showed invasive lobular not LCIS as my surgeon stated that lobular is "tricky" - in April I had a modified radical mastectomy with lymph node dissection (my nodes were negative) - I asked my plastic and oncology surgeon what at the chances of bx. the right breast and finding LCIS/Invasive Lobular - my plastic surgeon again used the word "tricky" and referred my to the oncology surgeon who said that a biopsy alone would not rule out an invasive lobular - in other words like the last time it could come by LCIS and yet the right breast could have areas of invasive.....as I am typing this I realize how complicated it must sound....time is a major concern as I must have the tissue expander removed due to scar tissue forming and making the removal difficult and I don't want to undergo two or three general anesthsia trips.....my multiple sclerosis is the relapse/remitting form.....my oncology surgeon is not only a fine surgeon but a personal friend for the past 20 years....he is not very aggressive and I am concerned about him being an advocate to my HMO - I have thought about notifying the media and my husband (who is an attorney and active in local politics) has agreed that if the appeal is denied we would notify our State Senator and Legislative Representative who are also friends. I don't want the world to know my medical history. Again, thank you for your quick response.
