Dear Betsy,

I have had contact with WIN ABC since 1995 when I decided to consider breast reconstruction. I had undergone a mastectomy in 1993. ...my plastic surgeon, told me about your organization and suggested I call you.

Immediately, after my call I received a packet of information on reconstructive surgery. WIN ABC continued to maintain contact with me during that decision making time and has continued to supply me with video and audio tapes, books and a resource guide.

After talking to you I felt like I had an instant friend and support person who was not only kind and caring, but also knowledgeable and helpful. You have continued to maintain contact with me and always have the right words and information to comfort me and to target my immediate needs.

During my illness I have continued to receive phone calls, cards and information. I have had the privilege of sharing WIN ABC others facing breast cancer. Shelly Blechman has also been a great source of information and support and continues to write me on a regular basis. The thoughtfulness of you and your staff is overwhelming...

Dear Betsy,

During the time I was recovering from surgery on my left breast, I became depressed and confused if I had made the right decision on what type of surgery I had done. A friend of mine recommended that I contact the WIN program.

When I called and told them what I was going through, I desperately needed someone to talk to, there was such warmth and concern in their voice. Immediately I felt like someone cared.

Within a week after the phone call I received a large package from your program. There were numerous pamphlets that not only were helpful in educating me on breast cancer, but also help my family and friends learn and cope with my breast cancer. After reading all the material, I felt confident that I had made the right decision, and had a much more positive attitude.

I was so grateful to the WIN program for all the educational materials, the follow up phone calls, and just their warmth and concern, that for my 50th birthday party I asked my friends and relatives to donate money to the WIN program instead of bringing a birthday gift. I hope you received a lot of donations. Thank you for providing the banner and for all the informative material on breast cancer that I used at my birthday party. It made everyone become aware about breast cancer and at the same time know about your wonderful program.

After my treatments, I hope to become part of your volunteer program, as a breast buddy, or where ever you may need me.

My family and I thank your entire organization for all the work you do on educating and informing the public about breast cancer.
