Cara Pellegrini is WIN Against Breast Cancer’s (WIN ABC)
Director of Program Assessment and Strategic Planning. She is
responsible for evaluating the programs and services that WIN
ABC currently has in place and helping to implement the most
effective direction for the organization’s growth and success.
Cara comes to WIN ABC with ten years of hands-on experience in
the pharmaceutical industry and a background in business
development and new product planning. She has also worked as a
mental health counselor specializing in substance abuse
recovery and women’s issues, and holds a master’s degree in
clinical psychology. Her areas of expertise include strategic
planning, corporate intelligence, writing, budget management
and program development. She has also volunteered in various
nonprofit organizations, working with battered women, homeless
youth, adolescent AIDS patients, child abuse prevention and
high school science students.
Cara’s father was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of
54 during a time when less than 1% of men were thought to
present with breast cancer. He was treated with a mastectomy
and has been cancer free for 20 years. This experience, as
well as other personal experiences with cancer, has served to
cement Cara’s strong committed to supporting cancer patients
and their families.
Cara was raised in Santa Clara, California and has lived in
many parts of California and Southern Europe. She now resides
in San Diego, California with her partner of nine years, their
two daughters, two cats and twenty koi fish. She enjoys
reading, bicycling, hiking, organic gardening and any activity
that includes her family.
