Waiting an additional week or so past the original appointment will not really make a difference. First of all, it is highly unlikely at your age that it is breast cancer. And 80% of all lumps are benign, so the odds are really in your favor that it is not cancer.

One thing I would like to stress is that, even if it were to be breast cancer, it is not an emergency. Breast cancer grows very slowly and if felt, was probably there for 7-10 years and if picked up on a mammogram, it has been growing for about 4-6 yrs.

So a delay of a few weeks will not really impact you one way or the other. You just have to deal with the stress of waiting and wondering, and that is can be very difficult. Realize that worrying won't change the outcome either, so try not to stress as much.

Please let me know the results of your visits. I would be glad to send you information and/or speak with you directly if you would like to call me at our toll free number 1-866-294-6222.
