FAQ ]Posted by Shelly Blechman on 1/23/2003 from 216.117.218.7:In reply to: Breast polyp posted by Diane Crutchley on 1/19/2003 from 205.188.208.138:
It is normal to have some pain and swelling after a biopsy. The degree will vary based on each individual and the extent and type of biopsy. It does sound like you had a worse case scenario, though I am delighted to hear that the results were negative.
Your questions are best addressed by the doctor who performed this procedure. As he has answered some of these questions but you still have additional concerns, we would encourage you to perhaps seek a second opinion.
I am not aware of the specific relationship between estrogen and the pain and swelling that you are experiencing post surgery other than estrogen, as a hormone that effects our menstrual cycle (among many things), and that can be accompanied by engorgement of the breasts as well as pain and tenderness.
If you are on estrogen as a hormone replacement therapy, you should speak with your OB/GYN or other doctor who prescribed this medication before stopping or changing your daily intake.
I would be glad to speak with you in directly to try and be of further assistance with your situation. Please feel free to contact our office, toll free, 1-866-2 WIN ABC (294-6222) if you have additional questions or need any information.
