FAQ ]Posted by Shelly Blechman on 9/11/2002 from 216.117.218.7:In reply to: Re: Breast reconstruction after radiation posted by Mary on 9/6/2002 from 12.217.7.100:
I think that if you did not have any confidence in the first plastic surgeon that it is a fine to seek a second opinion from another plastic surgeon. It is a good idea to keep the appointment to learn what this particular physician would recommend for you.
You can certainly opt to see this doctor after or during your radiation treatments if it is too difficult to have this appointment before radiation. It is a difficult decision choosing the right type of reconstruction for you and gathering as much information as possible to make an informed decision is very wise. I would request that these doctors give you the opportunity to speak with some of their patients who have had similar surgery and circumstances.
I am glad that you have benefitted from the information we sent to you and hope that you will continue to keep us informed of how you are doing as well as let us know if you need any additional information.
