FAQ ]Posted by Shelly Blechman on 9/3/2002 from 216.117.218.7:In reply to: bilateral mastectomies posted by Donna Benson on 8/29/2002 from 12.216.148.79:
I think there are a number of things to keep in mind when considering having any surgery away from your hometown and follow-up care is certainly one of them. How long were you planning on staying in New Orleans after your surgery? How far is this from your home and would it be difficult for you to return if you were having some problems? What has Dr. Allen recommended for follow-up care?
Any doctors that you speak with will have differing opinions on what type of surgery is best for your depending on your situation. Bottom line, you have to make the decision that is right for you based on information you have obtained and be sure that it is a choice you feel good about.
I think these are concerns best addressed by Dr. Allen and his staff. Perhaps he could recommend a plastic surgeon in your area if there were some problems that needed immediate attention.
WIN ABC is here as a resource for you. If you have not done so already, please complete the Personal Profile Form by clicking on the link below as this will help us best meet your needs. I would be glad to speak with you directly as well. You may contact our office toll free at (866) 2 WIN ABC (294-6222). Your information will be kept confidential.
AN IMPORTANT REMINDER: Please keep in mind that we are not health care providers. Also, it is very difficult to render an opinion without knowing all the facts of any one particular case. One strong recommendation we would like to make is that you pursue your question(s) with your own physicians. You should feel fully empowered to obtain a satisfactory answer and feel free to seek a second or third opinion.
