FAQ ]Posted by Diane Dauphin on 7/17/2002 from 172.149.215.254:I was recently diagnosed with lobular carcinoma in situ (LCIS). The doctors are recommending that I take tamoxifen and have genetic testing. I would like to talk to people who are taking the drug preventively.
What convinced you to take the drug? Are you experiencing any side effects?
I would also like to talk with people who decided not to take tamoxifen. What were your reasons?
I am also interested in those who went for genetic testing. Was it helpful? What measures did you take after the testing? If you decided against genetic testing, why?
I would also like to hear of support groups in the New York City area for those at high risk for breast cancer.
Finally, I would like to know how women with LCIS are monitored yearly.
Thanks for any information.
