I took Tamoxifen after my lumpectomy/8 nodes removed. couldn't tolerate it and stopped after 10 days. It made my hot flashes MUCH worse and I had a vaginal discharge all the time. I tried Femara but it made me ache all over. I wasn't taking anything for a while, then had mets to bones and lungs - my onc. said lets try Arimidex and see if it controls the mets. I had no side effects on Arimidex that I could detect. But it didn't stop the mets and I had to go back on chemotherapy. I was hesitant to stay on Tamoxifen anyway becauase of the blood clots and the FDA put it on its list of known carcinogens for uterine cancer even though the percentage is small. I hope this helps.
