FAQ ]Posted by Marlene on 3/30/2002 from 152.163.194.202:I had a mastectomy 4 weeks ago for DCIS. Fortunately the lymph nodes are negative and I've been told that the cancer was completely removed.
My oncologist has prescribed Arimidex for me. I've talked to a couple of people who have taken or knew someone who had taken Tamoxifen as a preventive med after surgery, but I can't find anyone who has heard of Arimidex.
Are any of you familiar with this drug? Would like to hear what others have experenced. I've researched it on the web and have learned that it is given for advanced breast cancer, Stage IV and it's for post-menopausal women. Now I'm confused as to why I'm taking this - I don't have advanced BC. (But I am post-menopausal.)
Hot flashes, sweating, leg/calf aches... having those pretty bad now. What else should I expect?
Thanks.
