It is so hard to find any information indicating that there could be possible long term effects from radiation treatment. Or any that go into details.
Just this last week my breast began swelling. I am having pain deep inside. I have a few shooting pains. My radiation treatment was finished a year and four months ago. I had boosters at the end of my treatment. I have an an appointment with my radiologist on Monday. My tumor markers are down to 29 and my CBCs look good. I had a breast conservation with six cycles of FACT and radiation treatment. I don't understand why there wasn't more discusion about the fact that this kind of thing could happen. Now I have trouble determining whether I have something to worry about or is this a normal thing that can happen. My onocologist has ordered ultrasounds, CAT scans, chest x-rays and I have even had a PET scan. All have come back clear. Now this. As long as this isn't a reaccourance I can handle the discomfort. BTW-- there wasn't any lymph node involvement. Am using Evista.
