FAQ ]Posted by Loren on 10/24/2001 from 205.188.192.52:
I have a friend who just went through a lumpectomy. Happily, her surrounding lymph glands are clean. The problem is that she is rather buxom, and the breast where she had the radiation is now hardening. The doctor said that that is NOT a common reaction to the radiation, but didn't know exactly why it was happening. His explanation didn't seem to clarify the reasons why it was hardening enough to where she could know without question what was going on with her breast. Also, she is currently taking Noveldex(?) and is experiencing a burning sensation in that breast as well. Is that a common occurence after radiation, or could it be a reaction to the medication? Any answers to these questions would certainly help to relieve a lot of her anxiety right now. Thank you in advance for your help.
