Julia,
Don't believe the horror stories about chemotherapy. At the worst I felt like I had the flu for a couple of days after each treatment. The doctors today can treat the side effects along with the cancer. there are anti-nausea drugs available that really work well. With the combination of C/A (which is Cytoxin/Adriamycin) she will most likely lose her hair. I was told that almost everyone does and if it happens it will be within two weeks of her first chemo.
The first chemo is the hardest cause they're introducing these drugs into her system for the first time and her body is going to rebel. Make sure she gets plenty of rest, stays away from large crowds where she can pick up a virus(not good because her immune system is already compromised by the chemo drugs), drinks lots of fluids and make sure she stays away from fried, greasy or spicy foods.
Good luck to her and she's incredibly lucky to have a daughter like you to help her through this.
Pam from Minnesota
