Posted by Kathy on 10/7/2001 from 63.57.42.22:

I posted a while back but could another opinion. A spot was found on my left breast during routine mammogram. I was send in for an ultrasound. Immediately after that I received another mammogram. I was then told I needed a needle biopsy, which I had 5 weeks ago. That biopsy came back benign, but they wanted to do an excise biopsy also. I went in, got hooked up to IV and went to ultrasound. They found that due to the hematoma the first biopsy caused, they couldn't get a clear view and postponed surgery for 2 weeks later. Went in in 2 weeks. They took me in to do a wire under ultrasound, but couldn't find the spot (hematoma's gone by now). Then they took me to mammography and did 3 shots, including a lateral. Radiologist came back and said he saw less rather than more, and couldn't do surgery as malignancy was unlikely. I of course received my copy of the report stating it was "probably benign". I'm not real thrilled with the word probably and am wondering if I should get a second opinion. Sorry for the length here, but thanks so much for your help.
