FAQ ]Posted by Shelly Blechman on 1/9/2004 from 216.117.212.176:In reply to: mucinous (colloid) breast cancer posted by Robin Adair on 12/19/2003 from 207.174.248.151:
First let me inform you that although I am not a healthcare provider, my experience over the past eight years has been in the area of breast cancer.
Breast cancer either forms in the ducts or in the lobules. Colloid is a type of characteristic that some cells have. It means these cells produce mucus-like secretions. If your definitive diagnosis is Ductal Carcinoma (either insitu-contained within the ducts or invasive-spread outside of the ducts) that is colloid, this type has a good prognosis. Colloid carcinoma constitutes about 3-5% of all breast cancers. It is well differentiated and is not prone to spread into the lymph and blood systems.
Below is a website were you may find more information about your type of breast cancer and treatment.
I would be glad to send you information as well as speak with you directly. You may email me your number or call me toll free at 1-866-294-6222.
