FAQ ]Posted by Kay on 7/16/2003 from 66.81.138.109:First, I send a (( hug )) to all the brave gals who face this terrible disease. Take heart~ we are all still here and medicine has done its job. We've come a long way baby~
Question: my breast implant was abandoned during mastectomy- the operative report said the chest wall muscles where a previous lumpectomy had been performed was damaged so they had to abandon the implant. Now I've researched the pectoralis minor and major muscles -- but not sure what to think - The damage was the same area as the lumpectomy (using a clock - 12:00 2.5 inches above the areola. If any medical people answer these questions- maybe explain this: my ten yr. old AXILLARY DISSECTION pathology says: a portion of fibrofatty tissue 7.0 X 7.0 X 4.0cm, with an attached portion of muscle 4.0 x 4.0 x 2.5cm.
Wouldn't this mean my muscle had been damaged for years - only just found during mastectomy/implant??
I really need some help on this - as I'm very confused as to why the dr. didn't know about the muscle damage.
Bless you ! Kay
