Paula,

I would like to encourage you to focus on life, not the other way around.

No one can predict for certain anyone’s outcome. There are individuals that have a very early stage breast cancer with no lymph node involvement that do not do well and others with lymph node involvement and later stage that do great. For example, the founder of our organization was diagnosed at 33 and the doctors gave her a poor prognosis….that was 10 years ago and she is still going strong!

I cannot emphasize enough that it is what you take into your heart and mind that will keep you strong and surviving. What difference would it make if the doctor told you a few years or many? They really don’t know. So focus on the positive. Live each day to the fullest and get the most from life that you can. Value what is really important, time spent with family and loved ones.

If you want to do things now because you are unsure of your longevity…DO THEM! It will only add to the quality of your life as you grow older.

Please keep in mind that most women who get breast cancer (as one surgeon told me) die from old age related diseases, not breast cancer!

I would be glad to speak with you directly to offer additional words of comfort and send you information to help you deal with all of this.
Just call or send me an email with your information.

Until then, you will remain in my thoughts and prayers.
