FAQ ]Posted by Shelly Blechman on 9/3/2002 from 216.117.218.7:In reply to: Lung mets treatment with Taxotere & Herceptin posted by Cathy on 8/30/2002 from 205.188.208.138:
I do know of people that have had this treatment with success. The success rates are very good with this combination of Herceptin and Taxotere. There does not seem to be as much side effects with the Herceptin as with the Taxotere. But you will be given medications that will help offset certain symptoms.
As with all medications, there are benefits and risks and as informed healthcare consumers, we need to learn as much as possible in order to weigh the benefits versus the risks and make informed decisions.
If you would like, we can connect you with individuals who have had this treatment as well as some of the researchers and providers who have developed and used Herceptin. I would recommend that you discuss your concerns with your providers and see what their recommendations are and what provisions they make for patients that may have adverse reactions.
WIN ABC is here as a resource for you. If you have not done so already, please complete the Personal Profile Form by clicking on the link below as this will help us send information that best meet your needs. I would be glad to speak with you directly as well. You may contact our office toll free at (866) 2 WIN ABC (294-6222). Your information will be kept confidential.
AN IMPORTANT REMINDER: Please keep in mind that we are not health care providers. Also, it is very difficult to render an opinion without knowing all the facts of any one particular case. One strong recommendation we would like to make is that you pursue your question(s) with your own physicians. You should feel fully empowered to obtain a satisfactory answer and feel free to seek a second or third opinion.
