FAQ ]Posted by Shelly Blechman on 8/2/2002 from 216.117.218.7:In reply to: after surgery posted by Michele on 8/1/2002 from 64.85.248.228:
I appreciate you contacting our organization on behalf of your mother. Questions about types of treatment and drain care should be directed to your mother’s health care team. It is very good that your mother’s lymph nodes were negative, but we could not begin to venture a guess as to the types of treatment that would be recommended for her. There are many factors to take into consideration, including, but not limited to, her age, type of breast cancer, size and grade of tumor, is she estrogen/progesterone positive?
Although, we could certainly provide both you and your mother with information regarding questions to ask and treatment options, depending on your mother’s specific situation. We would be glad to send both of you information and offer support to help you get through this.
We have some great tips on partnering with your health care team and key questions to ask your doctors, communication tips and informed decision-making tips to help you get the information that you need.
WIN ABC is here as a resource for you and your mother. If you have not done so already, please complete the Personal Profile Form by clicking on the link below as this will help us best meet your needs or contact our office toll free at (866) 2 WIN ABC (294-6222). Your information will be kept confidential.
AN IMPORTANT REMINDER: Please keep in mind that we are not health care providers. Also, it is very difficult to render an opinion without knowing all the facts of any one particular case. One strong recommendation we would like to make is that you pursue your question(s) with your own physicians. You should feel fully empowered to obtain a satisfactory answer and feel free to seek a second or third opinion.
