Reconstruction decisions are very personal for each woman. I had a DIEP flap reconstruction last summer. Tummy skin, fat and blood vessels make a natural looking breast, but no muscle. The upper buttocks can be used if you don't have enough tummy. It is less damaging than the TRAM or free flap, but more surgery than implants. Implants have their problems and must be replaced about every 10 years. See Dr. Allen's site at http://www.diepflap.com
My insurance has a good simple explaination of various recon methods and lots of other info. The glosssary and pathology section is great.

The DEIP is done in about a dozen places in the US and another dozen in the rest of the world.
