Dear Geraldine,

I apologize for not getting back to you sooner. I just found your post.

First, fear can be crippling, information can keep you feeling in control.

There are many new drugs available for metastatic disease. We have information on some them. Ask the doctor if your mother is a candidate for Arimidex or Femara. Both of these drugs are considered hormone therapy for metastatic disease. There have been some good results.

Another question I would ask is about the results for Her2Nu status of the tumor status. If she is overexpressing this protein in her genes, she may qualify to receive the drug herceptin. Another breakthrough drug for metastatic disease.

I hear your fear. I would be too. Now is the time for all of us to enjoy every day, because we really do not know what our fate is each day. Losing a mother is not easy. But for now you have her. We have some wonderful books that help with FIGHTING CANCER! We would like to send them to you. As always, there is no charge for our services. Please send me your address to my private email address or at the link posted below and I'll be sure to get them in the post this week.

You and your mom will remain in my thoughts.
