I had a bilateral masectomy with 13 nodes removed 1 was positive and I have completed 3 times a/c I have one more a/c then taxotere then herceptin for a year and I am on taxoifen for 5 years.. hate the tamoxifen but I'm in the herceptin study and have to take it to stay in the study. I will take herceptin for one year. I've heard nothing but good things about herceptin and that it works to get rid of existing cancer but they have no idea if it helps cancer that hasn't spread yet.. I will let you know about the side effects as I go thru my treatment. I am stage 2 (B) and no evidence of spread yet.. how did you know it had spread? I also take effexor to help with the tamoxifen side effects.. do they check your heart regularly I guess herceptin can hurt your heart muscle but doesnt have many side effect in comparision to the other drugs.. you are very brave and yes misery loves company...
