Dear Gertie,
Your case is not unusual and actually women of all ages who menstruate and some who are not experience breast pain at some point in their lives.
Talk to your physician first and have a clinical breast exam. Chances are your pain is hormonal in nature; however, pain can also be due to infection, breast feeding, pregnancy, injury, marijuana or street drug use and even excessive exercise or jogging and water retention.
There are several things you can do to avoid breast pain, decrease intake of caffeine, this includes: , coffee, tea, chocolate and look at those over-the-counter drugs as well. It can take up to six months for caffeine to be out of your system. Also, decrease salt intake.
Many women find taking some nutritional supplements are helpful in reducing breast pain. These supplements may help; CoEnzyme Q10, Evening Primrose Oil, Vitamin E

We do recommend that whenever there is question about breast health that you seek the professional opinion of your physician.
Also, we encourage you to perform monthly breast exams and start notating any unusual (or usual) patterns in your breasts. This will help become more familiar and able to sense if things are going well (or not).
We can send you a booklet on to perform a thorough breast self-examination at no charge. Go to our personal profile form page and complete the info and we will be sure to get it out to you today.
Warmest regards,
Renee D. Gaines
