I understand your concerns over the itching in one of your breasts. There is no way to be able to determine precisely what is going on without a proper examination by a doctor. You also do not state whether the itching is internal or external. Is there an accompanying rash or redness? Is it the entire breast or one area on the breast? There are a number of things that might be possible. It could be an infection that could be cleared up through antibiotics. It could be a simple allergic reaction to a topical substance you are using or something you are wearing. However, I feel it is always best to check it out. I recommend that you make an appointment to see your primary care physician or OB/GYN. Perhaps by the time appointment roles around, it will have cleared up and, if not, you at least can have some assurance that a physician will be able to answer your questions.

In terms of an early warning list, you can look for the following signs: dimples, scaling or puckering in the skin, changes in breast size, shape or coloration, nipple discharge and feel for any lump(s). The best thing to do to help with early detection is to perform monthly self-breast exams, have annual clinical breast exams, and depending on your age, annual mammograms.

If you would like, I can send you specific information about breast changes, breast self-exams and breast cancer, free of charge. I would also be glad to speak with you directly. You may email me with your telephone number and address or call me at 626/332-2255.
