I was very interested to read your message. I was diagnosed with cancer in August and subsequently had a masectomy last week. I still have chemo and radiation to go through. I requested breast reconstruction as soon as possible and was told by my surgeon, oncologist, and plastic surgeon that due to the radiation, I needed to wait for reconstruction. This was due to the negative effects radiation has on breast tissue, thus the reconstructed breast. The reconstruction process they have planned for me is to use skin from my stomach and then insert an implant. So I am not sure if that makes a difference in their opinion to wait. However, I see that you began reconstruction at the time of your masect. Your radiation was to start after the reconstruction. I would appreciate hearing from you and how the radiation affected the reconstruction. Please, write and let me know. Thank you, Jae
