I cannot say for sure whether you would or would not be able to purchase additional life insurance. A lot depends on what type of insurance you already have. I do know individuals that have had to wait 5 years post diagnosis in order to get individual life insurance or increase the amount of policy that they had prior to their diagnosis.

I understand your concerns about being able to pay for your children’s college education, but there are many ways to cover those expenses. Some options are that they can get scholarships or take out student loans and pay them off after they graduate. Sometimes these loans are forgiven if they go into the teaching profession. They can attend Community College for the first two years, which is a wonderful way to get a good education at very reasonable rates! There are more options than you realize.

I think the most important thing for you to do now is focus on your recovery. Get through things step at a time. You have to take care of yourself now in order to take care of others later. If you try to focus on the whole picture, it will surely overwhelm you and seem impossible. But there truly are other possibilities and ways to help both now and in the future.

I would be glad to speak with you and discuss some additional strategies that might help as well as send you information that I know would be beneficial in helping you through your recovery. Please contact me at 626/332-2255 or send me an email with your phone number and address and I will be glad to give you a call.
