I am so sorry to hear about the extensiveness of your disease. I wish I could speak with you directly to give you some words of comfort and reassurance. You did not state what type of treatments the doctors will put you on. Is it Aredia, Arimidex or Xeloda? These are very good forms of additional treatments. What about other forms of chemotherapy such as Adriamycin, Cytoxan or Taxol? Have you been tested for Her2Neu? There are many types of treatment, many different protocols and various clinical trials. I know a number of women who have been living for years with metastatic breast cancer. You never know what will work for you. There is always hope.
I want to recommend a good book for you to read…"Holding Tight, Letting Go: Living with Metastatic Breast Cancer" by Musa Mayer. This book is a wonderful resource that I believe will help you deal with your situation.
