Since I am not a health care provider, I hope you have posed these questions to your doctor.
Some women I have spoken to have experienced a leveling off of symptoms, while others continue to have the hot flashes.
Have you tried any additional supplements like Evening Primrose Oil or Black Cohash? Women have been know to receive relief of menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes with these products. Increasing your activity through exercise, wearing cooler clothing (i.e. cotton) and drinking a cold drink (i.e. water) have been known to help alleviate these symptoms.
If you were on HRT prior to your diagnosis, extreme mood swings can result by the removal of this treatment due to your being estrogen/progesterone positive or it may be an emotional response to your diagnosis and treatment. If you are having extreme hot flashes, you are not probably not sleeping well and this might be a contributing factor as well. You might want discuss taking St. John's Wart, a natural antidepressant, or perhaps a seratonin uptake inhibitor such as venlafaxine (Effexor), that may help with mood swings, with your healthcare provider.
You may also find some help contacting AstraZeneca (mfg. of Tamoxifen) at their consumer hotline 800/345-4334.
I would also be glad to speak with you directly and/or send you more detailed nformation that will help you. If you would like, just link to the confidential Personal Profile Form on this page and direct it to my attention in the comments section.
I hope some of these suggestions give you some relief.
