Dear Betty,

You said in your email to me that you hoped reposting my question (and June's) met with my approval. YES, YES, YES! It is an ongoing concern of mine and I am happy that others might be prompted to pursue this line of questioning. I also want to thank you for all you do with this site -- your ability to help so many people is phenomenal! I can almost hear people taking a deep breath and calming down when I read your posts to them.

You also asked how I was doing. I have copied materials you and others referenced about the issue and plan to take it with me for my next physican/mammogram visit in September. I have been on 6-month followup checks with magnification for follow-up of microcalcifications found in my right breast. Am turning 50 just prior to that visit. Mother diagnosed with advanced breast cancer at 59 and died less than 2 years later. Her sister died in her 40's from the disease. Four of her aunts (2 each on Mother and Father's sides) died of the disease. I had a suspicious lump in left breast excised when I was 25 that was labeled fibrocystic. Had an intraductal benign tumor removed when I was 41 found when I expressed a bloody discharge from my right breast 6 months after a complete hysterectomy for advanced endometriosis. These microcalcifications were missed on mammogram 2 years ago, then noticed last year and "found" on the old mammogram at that time. This missing something one time was enough to unnerve me. They wanted to wait til now for another check, but decided on every 6 months after I pressed the issue.

And now the issue of the endo-breast cancer link just raises my awareness of the need for good follow-up. So, I will be asking questions (lots of them) of my breast doctor and the radiologist next month. I will be back in touch afterwards.

Keep up the good work,

Kay
