Posted by Meredith on 7/7/2000 from 216.192.95.150:

My best friend was diagnosed with breast cancer last week and is undergoing a mastectomy next Tuesday. I have been searching in vain for some information on how I can best be of support to her. Obviously, I will help out as any friend would under any serious illness scenario (listening, taking care of the kids, providing meals, whatever).

However, I would like to know if there is any specific thing(s) which other mastectomy patients have indicated was helpful during recovery. Sometimes patients who have been through procedures can make suggestions which others would overlook. Do you know of any sites or support groups which can offer me suggestions to help her through this?

Thank you.
