I am 43 and was diagnosed with invasive lobular carcinoma in October 1999. My lump was painful and had been for a year. My doctor also reassured me that it was probably not cancer but scar tissue because I had pain in an area where a previous lump had been removed the year before. That turned out not to be true. In short - my lump was painful and it was cancer.
