I guess my first follow-up didn't get posted somehow. Thanks for your response, Betsy. I originally saw the endo research in the newspaper and since then have found a press release and much more detailed info on this study on www.endometriosis.org. There is an article in the March 1997 American Journal of Ob. and Gyn entitled "Cancer Risk after a Hospital Discharge Diagnosis of Endo". It followed 20,000 women in Sweden for about a 15-year period, cross-checking them with the Cancer Registry. The resultant link between endo and breast cancer, ovarian cancer and a few other things is startling. If I'm not mistaken they charted the b.c. incidence at 25% in these women with endo.

I have had a baseline mammogram, and a recent mammogram after finding the lump. Nothing showed up, which I guess is not unusual in women before menopause. In other words, you can have a mass in your breast and have your dense breast tissue disguise it. I do not have breast implants. My surgeon did compare the two mammograms and also viewed the ultrasound.
