FAQ Posted by Betsy Mullen on 3/8/2000 from 205.188.195.38:In reply to: chemotherapy posted by Jim Sauers on 3/7/2000 from 192.91.146.34:
Hello, Jim. I am glad that you visited our site and posted this message. I will run your question by our medical expert(s) in this area and get back to you with feedback ASAP. But first, I need to ask you some questions for clarification. To best answer your question, I will need some more information from you including the type and stage of cancer being treated; is this a new or recurrent cancer, the age of the patient, complete pathology (e.g., hormone receptor status and Her2neu status if this is breast cancer you are dealing with) and what type of treatment (including surgery) has taken place so far?
In the meantime, if you would like to fill out the special patient information form on our site (you can find it in the text of our message board introduction above), or if you would like to telephone us directly, we can send you some wonderful resources and well-rounded information about cancer (free of charge, including booklets and videos about chemotherapy, Fighting Cancer, a Guide for Cancer Supporters, nutrition and cancer, to name just a few). You are welcome to call us at (626) 332-2255.
It is very difficult to render an opinion without knowing all the facts of a patient’s case. But one strong recommendation we would like to make is that you also pursue your question(s) with your own physicians. You should feel fully empowered to obtain a satisfactory answer and feel free to seek a second opinion. We have some great tips on partnering with your health care team and key questions to ask your doctors, communication tips and informed decision-making tips to help you get the information you need.
I look forward to hearing back from you so that we can help you with your important question.
